The Bolton Iron Maiden was a psychedelic hard rock band from Bolton, England, active from 1970 to 1976. Initially known as Birth and later as Iron Maiden, the band comprised Ian Boulton Smith (lead guitar), Derek George Austin (bass guitar), and Paul TJ O'Neill (drums and vocals). Their music blended elements of blues, hard rock, and progressive rock, drawing influences from bands like Led Zeppelin, Cream, and Free. The band gained recognition supporting artists such as UFO, Bedlam, and Thin Lizzy. After the death of guitarist Ian Boulton-Smith in 1976, the band disbanded. In 2005, they released "Maiden Flight," a compilation of recordings from 1972 and 1975.
