The Brides of Funkenstein were an American soul and funk girl group, originally composed of singers Dawn Silva and Lynn Mabry. Formed in 1978 as part of the P-Funk collective under George Clinton, they released their debut album "Funk Or Walk" in 1978, featuring the hit "Disco To Go," which reached number 7 on the R&B chart. In 1979, they released their second album, "Never Buy Texas from a Cowboy," which was listed by Rolling Stone in 2002 as one of the 50 "coolest" albums of all time. The group was known for their contributions to the P-Funk movement and collaborations with artists like Parliament and Funkadelic.
