The Cardigans are a Swedish rock band formed in 1992 in Jönköping. The original lineup consisted of guitarist Peter Svensson, bassist Magnus Sveningsson, drummer Bengt Lagerberg, keyboardist Lars-Olof Johansson, and vocalist Nina Persson. Their debut album, "Emmerdale" (1994), gained popularity in Japan, while "Life" (1995) brought them international recognition. The single "Lovefool" from "First Band on the Moon" (1996) became a global hit. Other notable tracks include "My Favourite Game" and "Erase/Rewind" from "Gran Turismo" (1998). The band has received several awards, including three Grammis in 2003 for "Long Gone Before Daylight". In 2024, they released the compilation "The Rest of the Best" featuring rare tracks.
