The Dave Clark Five was an English rock band formed in 1958 in Tottenham, London. The group consisted of Dave Clark (drums), Mike Smith (keyboards and vocals), Lenny Davidson (lead guitar), Rick Huxley (bass guitar), and Denis Payton (saxophone). In January 1964, they achieved their first UK number one single with "Glad All Over," which knocked The Beatles' "I Want to Hold Your Hand" off the top spot. In December 1965, they reached number one in the US with their cover of Bobby Day's "Over and Over." The band was known for its energetic sound and was part of the British Invasion of the 1960s.
