The Emperors were an American soul group from Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, formed in the early 1960s. Their first breakthrough came in 1966 with the single "Karate," which became a regional hit in Philadelphia, reaching number 55 on the Billboard Hot 100 and number 46 in Canada. They followed up with "My Baby Likes to Boogaloo" and "Searchin'" in 1967. After signing with Brunswick Records, they released the single "Karate Boogaloo." Following the departure of member Bobby Fulton, the group renamed itself Emperors Soul 69 and released the single "Bring Out Yourself" before disbanding. Their work was reissued on LP and CD in 2002.
