The Four Freshmen is an American male vocal quartet founded in 1948 in Indianapolis, Indiana. The group is known for its open-harmonic jazz arrangements and blending the sounds of major vocal groups like The Modernaires, The Pied Pipers, and The Mel-Tones. Their most notable albums include "Voices in Modern" (1952) and "Four Freshmen and 5 Trombones" (1955), which reached number six on national charts and remained there for over eight months. The group was inducted into the Vocal Group Jazz Hall of Fame in 2001. Their music has influenced many artists, including The Beach Boys.
