The Gil Evans Orchestra was a jazz ensemble led by arranger and composer Gil Evans. Their 1961 album "Out of the Cool," released on the Impulse! label, is considered a landmark in jazz orchestration. Recorded in November and December 1960 at Van Gelder Studio in New Jersey, the album features tracks like "La Nevada" and "Where Flamingos Fly." In 1989, their album "Bud and Bird" won the Grammy Award for Best Large Jazz Ensemble Album. Evans' work significantly influenced the development of modern jazz.
