The Heptones are a Jamaican rocksteady and reggae vocal trio formed in 1965 in Kingston. The original lineup consisted of Leroy Sibbles, Earl Morgan, and Barry Llewellyn. The group played a significant role in the transition from ska and rocksteady to reggae with their three-part harmonies. Their most notable albums include "The Heptones" (1967), "On Top" (1968), "Night Food" (1976), and "Party Time" (1977). Their 1973 hit "Book of Rules" was based on the American poem "A Bag of Tools" by R.L. Sharpe. The group collaborated with prominent producers such as Coxsone Dodd and Lee "Scratch" Perry.
