cd - The Hilliard Ensemble

The Hilliard Ensemble was a British male vocal group founded in 1974, specializing in the performance of early music, particularly from the medieval and Renaissance periods. The ensemble was renowned for their precise and expressive performances, encompassing works by composers such as Guillaume de Machaut, Josquin des Prez, and Thomas Tallis. In addition to early music, they collaborated with contemporary composers, including Arvo Pärt, and released over twenty albums under the ECM Records label. Notable recordings include the 1994 album "Officium," a collaboration with saxophonist Jan Garbarek. The group disbanded in December 2014.
