The Orchids are a Scottish indie pop band formed in 1985 in Penilee, a suburb of Glasgow. The original lineup consisted of James Hackett (vocals), John Scally (guitar), Chris Quinn (drums), Matthew Drummond (guitar), and James Moody (bass guitar). The band released a series of singles and albums under the Sarah Records label, including "Lyceum" (1989), "Unholy Soul" (1991), and "Striving for the Lazy Perfection" (1994). After a hiatus, they reunited in 2004 and continued releasing new material, with their latest album, "Dreaming Kind," released in 2022. Their music is characterized by melodic guitars and gentle vocals, placing them among the notable figures in indie pop.
