The Raincoats are a British post-punk band formed in 1977 in London by Ana da Silva and Gina Birch while studying at Hornsey College of Art. Their 1979 debut album, "The Raincoats," is known for its unique sound and includes a cover of The Kinks' "Lola." This was followed by "Odyshape" (1981) and "Moving" (1984). The band disbanded in 1984 but reunited in 1993, releasing "Looking in the Shadows" in 1996. Their music has influenced many artists, including Kurt Cobain of Nirvana, who publicly praised them.
