The Rural Alberta Advantage is a Canadian indie rock band formed in 2005 in Toronto, Ontario. The band consists of Nils Edenloff (vocals, guitar), Amy Cole (keyboards, bass guitar, backing vocals), and Paul Banwatt (drums). Their debut album, "Hometowns," was released in 2008, followed by "Departing" (2011), "Mended with Gold" (2014), and "The Wild" (2017). The band was nominated for the Polaris Music Prize in 2011 and for two Juno Awards in 2012. Their music is characterized by a percussive folk-rock sound and lyrics about hometowns and heartbreaks.
