The Specials were a British 2 Tone and ska revival band formed in 1977 in Coventry. The original lineup included Jerry Dammers (keyboards), Terry Hall (vocals), Neville Staple (vocals), Lynval Golding (guitar), Roddy Radiation (guitar), Horace Panter (bass), John Bradbury (drums), Dick Cuthell (horns), and Rico Rodriguez (horns). Their music combined ska and rocksteady rhythms with punk energy. Notable tracks include "Gangsters" and "Ghost Town," which reached number one on the UK charts in 1981. After several lineup changes and hiatuses, the band reunited in 2008 and continued performing and recording until the death of vocalist Terry Hall in December 2022.
