The Wild Magnolias are a Mardi Gras Indian tribe and musical group from New Orleans, Louisiana. Formed in the 1950s, they have been led by "Big Chief" Bo Dollis since 1964, blending traditional Mardi Gras chants with funk music. Their 1970 debut single, "Handa Wanda," led to a contract with the French label Barclay, resulting in their first album, "The Wild Magnolias," in 1974. Subsequent albums include "They Call Us Wild" (1975) and "Life is a Carnival" (1999). The group is renowned for their energetic performances and has played a significant role in popularizing Mardi Gras Indian culture.
