Throttle Elevator Music was a San Francisco Bay Area jazz ensemble active from 2011 to 2021. The group was known for its unique fusion of jazz with elements of punk, funk, and hip-hop. They released seven albums under the Wide Hive Records label, with their debut album in 2012. Saxophonist Kamasi Washington was a prominent member, continuing his collaboration even after gaining wider recognition for his work with Kendrick Lamar on the 2015 album "To Pimp A Butterfly." Other members included Matt Montgomery, Mike "Lumpy" Hughes, and Gregory Howe. The group disbanded in 2021 following the release of their album "Final Floor."
