Tinariwen is a collective of Tuareg musicians from the Azawad region in northern Mali, founded in 1979 by Ibrahim Ag Alhabib. They are considered pioneers of the "desert blues" genre, which blends traditional Tuareg music with Western rock. Their 2011 album "Tassili" won the Grammy Award for Best World Music Album. The band is known for their hypnotic guitar riffs and lyrics reflecting the life and culture of the Tuareg people.
