Titan to Tachyons is an experimental jazz-metal group from New York City, led by New Zealand guitarist and composer Sally Gates. The band includes bassists Trevor Dunn (Mr. Bungle, Fantômas, Tomahawk) and Matt Hollenberg (Cleric, John Zorn), and drummer Kenny Grohowski (Secret Chiefs 3, Imperial Triumphant, John Zorn). Their music combines surrealistic and science-fiction elements with eclectic and improvisational passages, fluid grooves, and metallic flurries. Their debut album, "Cactides," was released in 2020 through Nefarious Industries, followed by "Vonals" in 2022 under Tzadik Records. The band has performed at festivals such as Big Ears and Sarajevo Jazz Fest and plans a tour with Melvins and Napalm Death in 2025.
