Tito Puente was an American musician and bandleader known as "The King of the Timbales" and "The King of Latin Music". Throughout his career, he recorded over 100 albums and composed notable songs like "Oye Cómo Va". His music blended mambo, cha-cha-chá, and Latin jazz, contributing to the popularization of Latin American rhythms in the United States. He collaborated with artists such as Celia Cruz and Machito. Puente earned five Grammy Awards and was awarded the National Medal of Arts in 1997. He continued performing actively until his death in 2000.
