Tomasz Stańko was a Polish trumpeter and composer known for his contributions to free jazz and avant-garde music. In 1962, he formed his first band, the Jazz Darings, considered the first European group to play free jazz. In the 1960s, he collaborated with Krzysztof Komeda on the album "Astigmatic." In the 1970s, he formed a quintet with Zbigniew Seifert and later worked with artists like Jack DeJohnette and Dave Holland. His 2006 album "Lontano" was recorded with his Polish quartet and released under the ECM label. Stańko passed away in 2018. The products available from the artist Tomasz Stańko include CDs.
