Tony Conrad was an American artist, musician, and filmmaker known for his pioneering contributions to minimalist music and experimental film. In the 1960s, he was a member of the Theatre of Eternal Music, collaborating with La Monte Young and John Cale. His 1973 album "Outside the Dream Syndicate," recorded with the German group Faust, is considered a classic of drone music. Conrad also created the 1966 film "The Flicker," a significant work in structural film. Throughout his career, he collaborated with artists such as Charlemagne Palestine and Genesis P-Orridge.
