Tracey Thorn is an English singer and songwriter, best known as a member of the duo Everything but the Girl. In 1982, she released her first solo album, "A Distant Shore," under Cherry Red Records. The album was recorded for £138 and reached number one on the UK Indie Chart in 1983. It includes a cover of The Velvet Underground's "Femme Fatale." In 2010, the album received a gold certification from the Independent Music Companies Association for selling over 100,000 copies in Europe.
