Turisas is a Finnish metal band from Hämeenlinna, founded in 1997 by Mathias Nygård and Jussi Wickström. The band's name is derived from an ancient Finnish god of war. Their music combines elements of folk metal, symphonic metal, and power metal, and they are known for using electric violin solos instead of traditional guitar solos. They released their debut album, "Battle Metal," in 2004, followed by "The Varangian Way" (2007), "Stand Up and Fight" (2011), and "Turisas2013" (2013).
