Unessential Oils is a musical project by Warren Spicer, known as the frontman of the Montreal-based band Plants and Animals. This solo endeavor blends elements of jazz, folk, and tropicália, creating a unique sound. The debut album, "Unessential Oils," was released in 2024 under Secret City Records. In 2025, it was followed by "The Purest of Oils." Spicer collaborated with musicians such as Christophe Lamarche-Ledoux, Miska Stein, and Tommy Crane. Unessential Oils' music is characterized by minimalist compositions emphasizing improvisation and emotional depth.
