The Valencia Baryton Project is a chamber ensemble based in Valencia, specializing in the performance of works for the baryton, a historical instrument combining elements of the viola da gamba and the lirone. Founded by barytonist Matthew Baker, the trio focuses on compositions by Franz Joseph Haydn, who wrote approximately 170 pieces for this instrument. In addition to historical repertoire, they support contemporary composers in creating new works for the baryton. Their recordings have received international acclaim and have been nominated for awards such as the Carles Santos Premios. They have performed concerts in North and South America, as well as Europe, contributing to the revival of interest in the baryton in the contemporary music scene.
