Vesperian Sorrow is an American symphonic black metal band from Austin, Texas, founded in 1994. Originally known as Unholy Descent, they changed their name to Vesperian Sorrow in 1999. Their lyrics focus on themes such as the cosmos, sorrow, and darkness. Notable albums include "Beyond the Cursed Eclipse" (1999), "Psychotic Sculpture" (2001), "Regenesis Creation" (2006), and "Stormwinds of Ages" (2012). After a twelve-year hiatus, they released "Awaken the Greylight" in 2024. The band is known for their symphonic and melodic elements in black metal and has performed at various festivals in Europe and North America.
