Four-time GRAMMY-winning NEA Jazz Master Terri Lyne Carrington, in collaboration with GRAMMY-nominated vocalist Christie Dashiell, presents "WE INSIST 2025!". This bold project reimagines the iconic 1961 album "We Insist! Max Roach’s Freedom Now Suite". Originally created by Max Roach in collaboration with Abbey Lincoln and lyricist Oscar Brown Jr., the album served as a call for freedom during the civil rights movement. Carrington and Dashiell expand its sonic palette by incorporating elements of gospel, neo-soul, funk, Afro-Latin rhythms, West African, and blues traditions. The album features exceptional musicians, including Weedie Braimah, Milena Casado, Morgan Guerin, Simon Moullier, and Matthew Stevens, with a special guest appearance by Julian Priester, the only living musician from the original recording. "WE INSIST 2025!" is more than an album—it’s a call to action, a celebration of resilience, and a tribute to the enduring power of music to inspire change.
