Description

Released on March 7, 2025, "Getz Au Go Go" is a live album recorded in 1964 at Café Au Go Go in Greenwich Village. This album captures the collaboration between tenor saxophonist Stan Getz and vocalist Astrud Gilberto, known for her hit "The Girl from Ipanema." The album presents a blend of bossa nova and North American jazz, with Gilberto expanding her repertoire to include traditional jazz standards. The recording features performances by young vibraphonist Gary Burton, guitarist Kenny Burrell, bassists Gene Cherico and Chuck Israels, and drummers Joe Hunt and Hélcio Milito. This reissue is part of Verve's Acoustic Sounds Series, remastered from analog tapes on 180-gram vinyl with deluxe gatefold packaging.
