Jimmy Smith, the pioneer of the Hammond B3 organ, recorded "Midnight Special" on April 25, 1960, at Van Gelder Studio. This soul jazz gem, released on September 15, 2023, features Smith collaborating with tenor saxophonist Stanley Turrentine, guitarist Kenny Burrell, and drummer Donald Bailey. The album includes tracks like "Midnight Special," "Jumpin' the Blues," and "Why Was I Born?" This Blue Note Classic Vinyl edition is stereo, all-analog, remastered by Kevin Gray from the original tapes, and pressed on 180g vinyl at Optimal.
