Description

'Watkins At Large' is the debut album of bassist Doug Watkins, recorded in 1956 for Transition Records. This jazz gem features a first-rate ensemble including Donald Byrd (trumpet), Hank Mobley (tenor saxophone), Kenny Burrell (guitar), Duke Jordan (piano), and Art Taylor (drums). Together, they deliver a dynamic mix of blues and ballads that capture the essence of the hard bop era. This mono Tone Poet edition was produced by Joe Harley, remastered by Kevin Gray from the original analog tapes, pressed on 180g vinyl at RTI, and packaged in a deluxe tip-on jacket with an accompanying booklet.
