Violent Femmes is an American folk punk band from Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The group consists of founding members Gordon Gano (guitar, lead vocals) and Brian Ritchie (bass guitar, backing vocals), along with Blaise Garza (saxophone) and John Sparrow (drums). Their 1983 debut album, "Violent Femmes," includes notable tracks like "Blister in the Sun" and "Add It Up." Subsequent releases include "Hallowed Ground" (1984) and "The Blind Leading the Naked" (1986). After a hiatus, they returned with "3" (1989) and "Why Do Birds Sing?" (1991).
