Vladimir Stoupel is a French pianist and conductor of Russian origin. He studied at the Moscow Conservatory under Evgeny Malinin and Gennady Rozhdestvensky. After emigrating to Paris in 1984, he gained international recognition by winning the Concours Internationale d’Exécution Musicale in Geneva in 1986. He has performed with renowned orchestras such as the Berlin Philharmonic and the Gewandhausorchester Leipzig. His discography includes the complete sonatas of Alexander Scriabin and the piano works of Arnold Schoenberg. Together with violinist Judith Ingolfsson, he co-founded the "Aigues-Vives en Musiques" festival in France.
