Von Dexter was an American composer born in 1912 in Aurora, Illinois. He began his professional music career in Chicago, playing in bars and nightclubs. After earning a music degree from the University of Southern California, he moved to California, where he became the West Coast music director for NBC. Dexter is best known for his work on film soundtracks, particularly for director William Castle's films such as "House on Haunted Hill" (1959), "The Tingler" (1959), and "13 Ghosts" (1960).
