John Leslie "Wes" Montgomery was an American jazz guitarist known for his thumb-picking technique and use of octaves, which gave him a distinctive sound. He often collaborated with his brothers Buddy and Monk, as well as organist Melvin Rhyne. His recordings up to 1965 focused on hard bop, soul jazz, and post bop, later transitioning to pop-oriented instrumental albums that achieved mainstream success. Notable albums include "The Incredible Jazz Guitar of Wes Montgomery" (1960), "Full House" (1962), and "Goin' Out of My Head" (1966).
