William Basinski is an American avant-garde composer and musician known for his experimental works in the ambient and drone music genres. Born in 1958 in Houston, Texas, he studied jazz saxophone and composition at the University of North Texas. In 2002, he released his most renowned work, the four-part album "The Disintegration Loops," created from degrading tape loops of his earlier recordings.
