Blues Image was an American rock band formed in 1966 in Tampa, Florida. The band is best known for their 1970 hit "Ride Captain Ride," which reached No. 4 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Their second album, "Open," featured this track and earned a gold record from the RIAA. The band blended elements of blues rock and hard rock. After releasing their third album, "Red White & Blues Image," in 1970, the band disbanded. Members continued their musical careers in other projects; Mike Pinera joined Iron Butterfly, and Joe Lala collaborated with various artists as a percussionist.
