Chris Barber was a British jazz trombonist and bandleader known for his role in reviving traditional jazz in the 1950s. In 1954, he formed the Chris Barber Band, achieving international success with the 1959 recording of "Petite Fleur." He collaborated with Lonnie Donegan, contributing to the skiffle movement, and invited American blues artists like Muddy Waters and Sister Rosetta Tharpe to tour the UK. Barber was awarded the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in 1991 and published his autobiography, "Jazz Me Blues," in 2014. After nearly 70 years of active musical career, he retired in 2019.
