Compton & Batteau was an American folk duo consisting of guitarist John Parker Compton and violinist Robin Batteau. In the late 1960s, they performed in Cambridge coffeehouses and formed the band Appaloosa in 1969, releasing a self-titled album under Columbia Records. In 1970, they released "In California" before parting ways. Compton pursued a solo career, while Batteau collaborated with his brother David Batteau and later joined the band Pierce Arrow. Their music is noted for its West Coast influences and is often compared to artists like Gene Clark and John Phillips.
