Joost Lijbaart is a Dutch drummer born in 1967 in Amsterdam. He graduated with honors from the Hilversum Conservatory in 1991. He was a member of the Yuri Honing Trio, with whom he released five albums and toured in over 90 countries. Additionally, he founded his own projects, such as the quartet Group of Friends, a duo with pianist Wolfert Brederode, and the group Batik. In 2003, he received the soloist prize at the North Sea Jazz Festival. Lijbaart is known for his versatility and has collaborated with artists from various genres and disciplines.
