Kyung Wha Chung is a South Korean violinist born in Seoul in 1948. She studied at the Juilliard School in New York under Ivan Galamian. In 1967, she won first prize at the Edgar Leventritt Competition, launching her international career. She has performed with leading orchestras and conductors such as Claudio Abbado, Daniel Barenboim, and Sir Georg Solti. Notable recordings include "Tchaikovsky: Violin Concerto / Sibelius: Violin Concerto" and "Bach: Sonatas & Partitas". Her discography features works by Vivaldi, Brahms, and Debussy.
