Misha Dichter is an American pianist born in Shanghai in 1945 to Polish parents who fled during World War II. In 1966, he won the silver medal at the International Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow, launching his international career. Dichter has recorded for labels such as Philips, RCA, and MusicMasters, with a repertoire that includes works by composers like Brahms, Liszt, and Gershwin. In 1998, he received the Grand Prix International du Disque Liszt for his recording of Liszt's piano transcriptions.
