Mulatu Astatke is an Ethiopian musician and arranger, known as the father of Ethio-jazz, which blends traditional Ethiopian music with jazz, funk, and soul. Born in Jimma, he studied music in London, New York, and Boston, becoming the first African student at Berklee College of Music.
