Murray Perahia is an American pianist and conductor, renowned for his interpretations of works by composers such as Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, and Chopin. In 1972, he became the first North American to win the Leeds International Piano Competition. Throughout his career, he has received numerous accolades, including three Grammy Awards and nine Gramophone Awards. He also served as co-artistic director of the Aldeburgh Festival from 1981 to 1989.
