Negative Approach is an American hardcore punk band formed in Detroit in 1981. Considered pioneers of hardcore punk, they released the "Negative Approach" EP in 1982 and the "Tied Down" album in 1983. The band disbanded in 1984 but reunited in 2006 and has since performed sporadically. Their music is known for its aggression and minimalist style, influencing many hardcore bands worldwide.
