Power of Zeus was a hard rock band from Detroit, Michigan, active between 1968 and 1971. Originally known as Gangrene, the group consisted of Joe Peraino (guitar, vocals), Bill Jones (bass guitar), Bob Michalski (drums), and Dennie Weber (keyboards). In 1970, they released their sole album, 'The Gospel According to Zeus,' under Motown's subsidiary label, Rare Earth. The album featured the track 'The Sorcerer of Isis,' which became popular among hip-hop producers and was sampled by artists such as Eminem and Kanye West. In 2024, previously unreleased recordings were issued under the title 'Uncertain Destination,' capturing the raw energy of their live performances.
