Roy Acuff was an American country music singer, fiddler, and promoter, known as the "King of Country Music". Born in Maynardville, Tennessee, he began his music career in the 1930s. In 1938, he joined the Grand Ole Opry, becoming a key figure. In 1942, he co-founded Acuff-Rose Music, Nashville's first major country music publishing company, signing artists like Hank Williams and Roy Orbison. In 1962, he became the first living inductee into the Country Music Hall of Fame. Acuff is known for songs like "The Great Speckled Bird" and "Wabash Cannonball".
