In the 1960s, he was a member of the group Rotary Connection, where he sang alongside Minnie Riperton. Throughout his career, he collaborated with artists such as George Clinton, The Jackson 5, The Supremes, and B.B. King. Barnes has contributed to over 150 albums and compilations.
