Thundercat, born Stephen Lee Bruner, is an American musician, singer, producer, and songwriter from Los Angeles. He began his career as a member of the crossover thrash band Suicidal Tendencies. Later, he gained prominence as a solo artist, releasing four studio albums: "The Golden Age of Apocalypse" (2011), "Apocalypse" (2013), "Drunk" (2017), and "It Is What It Is" (2020). His music blends elements of funk, progressive R&B, soul, psychedelia, and jazz-fusion. Thundercat is known for his collaborations with producer Flying Lotus and his work on Kendrick Lamar's 2015 album "To Pimp a Butterfly." In 2016, he won a Grammy Award for Best Rap/Sung Performance for the track "These Walls" from that album. In 2020, he received the Grammy Award for Best Progressive R&B Album for "It Is What It Is."
