Ulcerate is a New Zealand-based extreme metal band formed in 2000 by guitarist Michael Hoggard and drummer Jamie Saint Merat. The band is known for their technically demanding death metal, characterized by extensive use of dissonance, time signature changes, and complex song structures. Notable albums include "Everything Is Fire" (2009), "The Destroyers of All" (2011), and "Vermis" (2013). In 2024, they released their seventh album, "Cutting the Throat of God". Ulcerate has been compared to bands like Gorguts and Neurosis and is considered one of New Zealand's leading extreme metal acts.
