Vananidr is a black metal band from Stockholm, Sweden, officially formed in 2018, with roots tracing back to the mid-1990s under the name Hydra. The band underwent several lineup changes over the decades, reforming in 2010 as Synodus Horrenda, a moniker used by guitarist and vocalist Anders "Flame" Eriksson until 2018, when a new lineup was established under the name Vananidr. As of 2024, the band comprises Anders Eriksson on guitars and vocals, former Amon Amarth drummer Fredrik Andersson on drums, Per Lindström on bass, and original Hydra founder Alexis "Titan" Xanthopoulos on guitars. Their fifth studio album, "In Silence Descent," explores themes of darkness and despair, blending Nordic melancholy with intense emotions, exemplifying Scandinavian black metal.
