Zapp is an American funk band formed in 1977 in Dayton, Ohio. The original lineup consisted of brothers Roger, Larry, Lester, and Terry Troutman. The band is renowned for its innovative use of the talk box and pioneering approach to electro-funk. Their 1980 debut album, "Zapp," featured the hit "More Bounce to the Ounce," which became a classic example of early electro-funk. Subsequent albums like "Zapp II" (1982) and "Zapp III" (1983) solidified their influence in the genre. Zapp closely collaborated with members of Parliament-Funkadelic, notably Bootsy Collins. Their music significantly influenced the development of the G-funk sound in 1990s hip-hop. The products available from the artist Zapp include CDs.
